About Colleen Fava

Registered Psychotherapist Guelph
Hello, my name is Colleen Fava and I am happy that you found me. I offer counselling, psychotherapy, reiki and spiritual direction services in Guelph, Ontario.
My hope is to help my clients through their challenges by empowering them to look within to uncover answers that best reflect their needs.
Some of the ways I work with my clients include:
- talk therapy (cognitive behavioural therapy and interpersonal therapy)
- experiential therapy (including body psychotherapy, mindfulness, meditation, visualization, dream work and creative art therapy)
- energy work (including reiki, sound therapy and chakra work)
Some emotions that I assist clients in working through include: anger, sadness, grief and loss.
With life situations that may bring about the above emotions such as: relationships, transitions (i.e. divorce) and loss (i.e. death of a loved one or loss of a job) are all issues I may assist with.
I also work with depression, anxiety and addictions and other problems that are getting in the way.
All with the ultimate intention of making space for happiness and my clients’ specific life goals.
My Background
A second degree Reiki practitioner, I volunteered with Hospice Toronto from 2006 to 2011, where I was partnered with children to provide support while their parents/caregivers were dying. I also worked with individuals who were terminally ill and dying who needed assistance with their physical and emotional needs.
Passionate about working with the dying and their families and friends, I believe we can do a better job in North America when it comes to honouring our loved ones while they are transitioning as well as supporting ourselves/their caregivers in grieving.
I also volunteered at the Wellbeing Initiative in Downtown Toronto which supported those struggling with addiction and/or mental health issues.
